Question & Answer

What do I wear to yoga?

Wear something comfortable and fitting.  Ideally your clothing should fit well enough to not hang off or gap open if you should find yourself lifting your leg up behind you, or hanging upsidedown.

Do I need to have my own mat?

Most places have spare mats you can use.  It is strongly recommended to purchase your own mat if you plan on having an on going yoga practice.

I'm a beginner, will I be able to do other classes if I can't make it to the "Beginner" class?

Yes.  The teachers can modify the practice for the levels of everyone there.  Always remember that if class gets too intense you can go to a resting pose.

Why are some of the classes heated?

Heat enables you to get deeper in your stretches safely.  It also encourages sweating, which is wonderfully detoxifying.

Can I do yoga if I'm pregnant and it's not a pre-natal class?

Pregnant women can do most postures the same as everyone else.  There are a few things that need to be modified to be more safe and comfortable and teachers in every class can help you with those modifications.  The main thing to remember is if it hurts or is uncomfortable, don't do it.  Listen to your body and yoga will be a healing and strengthening experience for you and your baby.

I'm not flexible at all, can I do yoga?

Yes!  I have met yoga teachers who could not touch their toes!  Whether flexible or not, your body will love yoga and before you know it, you will begin to open up.
