Highest Truth:  Honor Oneself

If your third chakra is balanced (that balance may change day to day) you will feel mental energy and alertness.  You will feel determined to accomplish your goals.  A healthy and thriving third chakra will come from honoring your self and your wishes, having integrity and living the way that you truly believe is best for you.  This type of healthy relationship with yourself creates a positive self image.

Signs of a less healthy third chakra would include negative self talk, ongoing addictions that you really wish you could quit, an unhealthy weight, looking for others approval (only yours and Gods matter!), fear of how others perceive you.

The empowered third chakra allows you to stand up for what you know is best regardless of how others may feel about it.  When speaking of the third chakra, Carolyn Myss reminds us to, "[NEVER] NEGOTIATE YOUR SOUL/SPIRIT TO ANYONE!"  Honor yourself!

Just before my last baby was born I was being taught about service and actually I still am.  In a church class the women were discussing service and how important it is for our spiritual well-being.  I was totally overwhelmed with my life at that time and realized, while it is true that service can do trans formative things to people, YOU are the most important person for you to serve!  If you are depleted in any way, you are not much good to the people around you and you must do what is best for you.... without feeling guilty about it!

I think there is an important lesson in this for many, many women who try to be everything to everyone.  When you feel like you have enough time and energy to reach out to people around you, wonderful!  Reach out and bless people!  Find and even search out people whose burdens you can lighten.  When you're lucky just to take care of yourself and your family or work or school, honor that!  Honor you, because you are no less important than all those other people you want to help.

Think of a way you can feed your spirit TODAY!  Do some yoga, do some breathing, some meditating, take a walk or hike outside, sit down with your favorite book, play your instrument, make YOUR favorite dinner....nurture YOU!

NAMASTE!

Yes, good words. There are actually times, in MY case, when serving OTHERS is the only way I can 'honor myself.' Definitely there are times when "losing myself in the service of others"--is the only way I find myself...and I know I need to do that MORE. But at the same time, yes I agree, that we have to 'fill our OWN resevoir' also in order to continue finding actual JOY when serving others!

Kind of like the instructions we get at the beginning of a plane flight: in case of turbulence, attach an oxygen mask to our OWN face before we try to help others put THEIRS on! Otherwise, we won't be able to help ANYONE! Makes a lot of sense--in a lot of ways.

Fill up our own cup, then we can pour some out to others.

I love that! You're so creative relating it to the oxygen mask! That's perfect...and yes I agree that sometimes service is exactly the way to feed our own spirits...especially YOURS :)...and I think you do fabulously at serving your family ALL THE TIME!

oooohhh---thank you girl! And I've never really thought of myself as 'creative' in any way, size, shape or form! Interesting concept...... : )

    About Me
    Amber Gurr

I was first introduced to yoga in 2001 and quickly fell in love.  In 2004, I completed my 500 hour teacher training with D'ana Baptiste and have done annual trainings since that time with notable teachers such as Mark Whitwell, David Williams, Baron Baptiste and Rolf Gates.  I love teaching and I love seeing yoga bless both the physical and spiritual aspects of people's lives.

I have a husband and 4 little boys, ages 9, 3, 2 and 0 that keep me busy and playing.  I decided that now is the time for me to be home with my family so now I just sub a yoga class here and there.    I also am a nutritional herbalist, herbalist, doula, have an Associates degree in music,  teach piano and do some energy readings and healing here and there.

I am excited to share some of the tid bits of truth that I have come across that have shaped my life thus far and hope that this sharing  will assist many others in their journey.

    Namaste!
