Sequence #1- Lower back strengthening 04/01/2010
![]() This is the first of my free audio yoga classes. There is a sound glitch from the 4th second through about the 13th second of the track that happened in editing so please ignore that. I'm still learning as I go. :) This sequence is very beginner friendly, slow paced and approachable and is specifically built to strengthen the lower back with back and core strengtheners as well as hamstring stretches. All of these areas contribute to a healthy back. I know there are a lot of people out there with lower back issues. I also know many of those people are a little intimidated to go to a class full of more experienced yogis. So here is the solution! P.S. Your down dog DOES NOT need to look like the one in this picture to be perfect for you! (One variation of child's pose not mentioned in the podcast is with your knees apart and feet together.) Roll out your mat or pick a spot on the floor and enjoy your 50 minute practice! Ujjayi Pranayama Instruction 03/18/2010
The ujjayi breath taught in the above short meditation is the breath traditionally practiced through out a yoga asana practice. The ujjayi breath can also be used as a meditation in itself. I use the ujjayi breath when I bike or jog and I find it helps keep my heart rate down. I have also used it during parts of labor, after being stung by a jellyfish, and when doing energy work. If you are not confident with your ujjayi breath after this short lesson and meditation please let me know and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Some of the BENEFITS of the ujjayi breath are: it lowers blood pressure, slows the heart rate, is calming to the nervous system, helps with insomnia when done before bed, it is relaxing on the psychic level, and it helps alleviate fluid retention in the body. Guided Meditation #1: Gift of Love 03/10/2010
Yea! I messed with the sound and got it louder!! I'm very excited! Please let me know if you all can here it now and how the meditation goes for you! This is the first of many guided meditations. There will definitely be a learning curve here for me. Turns out the mic when I was recording wasn't turned up very far so the whole thing is very quiet. Oops! So when you listen make sure you turn the volume on the player and on your speakers all the way up. The next meditation will hopefully have much better sound! :) This meditation is 21 minutes long and is a loving, healing meditation. Please enjoy! Heal, Strengthen, Renew! Namaste! |
